Cozy Cat

Here's to winter.

*

So, an explanation of my posting absence. (I'm sure you've all missed me so much.)

When I came home for break, I had intended on posting *new* pictures everyday--of Toler, other horses at the stable, the cats at home, odd random things, whatever came to mind and inspired my finger to hit the shutter release button. Well, my intentions were dashed by the ridiculous fact that I left the charger for my beautiful Pentax K10D AT MY DORM. UGH. I was so mad at myself.

As I had intended on posting *new* pictures, I didn't put much of anything on my laptop's hard drive (as I keep all my photos on my external drive at my dorm), which essentially meant I didn't have anything to post.

So where did these pictures come from? (And the pictures from this post, which might have been missed by my followers because it was posted out of time.)

Well, you see, my parents have a shit-tastic digital camera. I REALLY hate to use it--those simple point and shoot digital cameras are waaay better than this thing, I mean, it really is useless. But, I got desperate. Especially when the kitties (I have two cats at home) started to snuggle one day. Just because I hate using the camera so much, don't expect me to post much of anything else for another week. Yes, I go back to the dorm this next weekend, so I will once again have access to my camera battery charger. Unfortunately I will have missed out on the MONTH's worth of taking pictures of interesting things. (Sorry, but campus really doesn't have much interesting on it. At least not that I care to take pictures of, which I suppose really says something considering I love to take pictures. How sad.)

So, that's that, I suppose.

I hope everyone had a wonderful winter holiday and will continue to have a superb new year!

A View to a Chill

Views from our window when it was insanely snowy. Needless to say, I didn't venture out.

I actually lost this post when I had typed up a lot to say about it, and found the pictures on a draft of a post just now, so I thought I'd just go ahead and publish it. XD

Portal

I love wandering around in nature. Sometimes you just find those breath-taking spots that somehow, you just stumble upon them as though the whole time you'd been walking on an unknown path. Well, finding this tree was one of those times. It was right next to the rocky cliff of a shoreline to Lake Michigan. It reminded me of something a forest spirit or a little gnome would live in, a tree that, if it were larger or I was a small child, I'd dwell in every chance I got--make it "my" space. Well, anyway, I love this tree.

Infamous Head Tilt

I'm a little late for my Friday post, but in my defense I had two exams today and I was coming home. Which means now I can take a new photo everyday. =)

Anyway, Toler tilts his head a lot--at me, at funny sounds, at geese (he LOVES geese). It melts me just about every time he does it.

Watchful

[I need to replace the image, sorry about that!]

Taken a few summers ago, of a horse named Majesty. He was incredibly photogenic, so I have a lot of nice photos of him. I'll post more along with his story.

Whatcha doin'?

Perhaps not the best picture ever, but I can't help but smile when I look at it. I believe this was taken one of the first two summers I owned Toler. If he's a goof now, he was a complete dork when he was young! He was downright crazy in that adorable little way. He would insist on nosing everything you intended to use on him--brushes, combs, leg wraps, hoof pick, blanket--and would often see if it was tasty. Especially leg wraps. He loved them. He'd grab it in his mouth and shake his head like a dog. He also insisted on helping us sweep the aisle--any time we used a broom he would "sweep" the aisle with a hoof. At one point in time he had a half-deflated basketball in his stall, and he would throw it into the stall next to him which really only annoyed the horse there, but he would toss it back to Toler and they'd throw it to each other for hours. It was actually kind of ridiculous.

Ooh

Yepp, Toler's watching you! (You better be good, he has connections. One swish of his tail and you're on the naughty list. Lumps of coal? I don't think so...)

Displaced

A bonus image for today, because I got done with everything earlier than I'd anticipated. =) This one's not on my DA account yet.

So far I've had horse-related images here, so I suppose (for the few following me who don't know me as well) I should explain a little. I love horses, yes, I'm an addict. I own a horse (my baby), named Toler. His full name is Itolocus, which is the name of Hercules' best friend, also known to be quite the lady charmer. (And believe me, the name holds true.) Anyway. He lives not even five minutes from my home at a great stable where he has lots of friends (and a harem, I might add). So, I take a lot of pictures not only of my babes, but also of the other horses.

And, because I can, here's a picture of Toler, acting all noble:

Trailing

I thought I'd post the first photo! Here's something to get you thinking about the summer and all the warmth you might be missing if there's strange white stuff on the ground.

Also, I will be using old photos for the next week or so, on account of my camera being two hours away from me. (I thought it was an okay idea at the time.) I'll try to post ones that aren't already in my DA gallery (this one already is, alas). So, another plug: Go see my DA gallery!

A Journey Across the Stars and Into Your Soul

I've always wanted to do a photoblog. I'm not entirely sure why, but it has always appealed to me. So, I've started this in conjunction with my creative ventures as TolHorse Studios, the name I've designated to my photography, general art, writing, and musical composition "studios." While I'm not exactly up for business as much as creating a kalediscope of medias through which I view my world and express my perceptions, the posibility has never completely passed from my field of vision. Anyway, I've begun to ramble.

At this blog I will (eventually) try to post a photo a day, whether of strict photography, or some other form of art, something will appear. Yes, you read that right, I qualified my attempt with the word "eventually" meaning that I'm not quite ready to start with it, thus you could view this post as a placeholder or declaration of things to come.

In the meantime, please check out some of my photos at my DA account: TolHorse-Studios.

Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you soon.
