Infamous Head Tilt

I'm a little late for my Friday post, but in my defense I had two exams today and I was coming home. Which means now I can take a new photo everyday. =)

Anyway, Toler tilts his head a lot--at me, at funny sounds, at geese (he LOVES geese). It melts me just about every time he does it.

Emma,

I am here from Gran's 'The Pagan Page'.

I was looking at the photos of horses; Toler and Majesty.
Those are beautiful animals Emma! And you're an able photographer.

I wish I'd owned someone like Toler myself. He has this soft, understanding look as if he was able to understand human speech.

How did you arrive upon the name 'Toler' and what does it mean?

Thanx!

P.S. - I am a 35 year old, female, Hindu-Hellene from India.

This is my pagan blog:

Hi, thanks for the comments!

I think he understands us humans--even if he can't understand every word, I think the general meaning rises above language differences, after all, everything we communicate is echoed by tone and body language.

The name "Toler" was actually not my choosing. (It's pronounced like "taller.") He was named by his breeder, who had intended on keeping him but later had to list him for sale. It's just short for his full name, which is "Itolocus," who, in Greek mythology, was the best friend of Hercules. I'm not really sure how his nick name got to be "Toler" but I'm assuming that they just pulled it out of the "tol" in Itolocus and added the -er because it sounded better. We think it's pretty funny because it sounds like "taller" and he is the tallest horse at the stable!
